In third grade, Latame Phillips was identified as gifted on the California Achievement Test and bused across San Diego to a wealthier part of the city. It was the first time he understood clearly that his family was poor. Most kids that age don’t carry that kind of awareness, but Phillips did, and it never left him.
That early reckoning became fuel. He went on to earn his degree from the University of Southern California, serve in the U.S. Army, climb into executive-level roles in corporate America, and eventually pursue a PhD. He was always chasing a deeper understanding of how wealth is built, how it moves, and why so many people never get access to it.
After graduating from USC and completing his military service, Phillips moved into the corporate world, eventually reaching Wealth Management Executive roles at organizations including Halliburton. He served as a Corporate Leadership Advisor across multiple large companies, working at the intersection of business finance, corporate strategy, and organizational leadership.
The corporate chapter was successful by any conventional measure. But it also exposed him to something he couldn’t ignore.
“I worked in finance and was able to work my way into wealth management and that’s when I saw tremendous social inequities.”
That observation was a turning point for him. Phillips stepped away from the corporate track and redirected his expertise towards the entrepreneurs, small business owners, and aspiring executives who needed it most–people with ambition, but no roadmap.
Today he serves as a Certified Business Entrepreneur Coach, teaching advanced wealth-building strategies drawn from his years at the highest levels of corporate finance. His work and voice have been recognized by ABC, FOX, NBC, Telemundo, Zondra TV, Giving Outloud, SHOUTOUT DFW, and The CW Magazine.
Latame Phillips holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance and Management from the University of Southern California (USC), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Trinity University, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Entrepreneurship and Business Administration, also from Trinity University.
